Benner’s Novice to Expert Model/Theory is something I think we all can relate…..

Let us continue to discuss it.

What are the five levels?  How does this theory resonate with you?

The theory describes how a nurse develops nursing knowledge, skill, clinical competence, and comprehension of patient care through complete transformation, from the novice to expert level (Ozdemir, 2019). We all started in the novice stage, meaning that none of us had experience before choosing to begin our educational path and/or career path in nursing. As we continue our education, we take the lessons we have learned and carry them into our next stages of education and implement them into our practice as we advance and work our way up to becoming an expert in our field.
