1: Review the reading in our module: Sample Salary and Tuition Information

Step 2: Decide your tuition rates for EACH of your classrooms and the salaries for EACH position in your program.

Remember that you will also need to think about how much you will need to pay for other positions, including a janitor, any office staff you will have, and a cook if you have one in your plans. Make sure to include ALL positions you have listed in your previous plans.

Step 3: Once you have determined your tuition and salaries, complete a Salary Tuition Worksheet (found below). Salaries must also meet budgetary and licensing guidelines. This includes labor law. Make sure all salaries are above minimum wage, and everyone receives the proper breaks.

Step 4: Check your tuition totals and salary expense totals to make sure you are making more money than you are spending, to ensure you don’t lose money. Remember, while salaries are the biggest part of your expenses, they are not the only expense you will have. We will move these figures into the working budget worksheets next week.
