Assessment Description
School counseling models have evolved since their inception in the late 1800s; many changes were influenced by economics, social changes, legislation, and ethical decisions. Ultimately, the changes were introduced to incorporate best practices as school counselors gained experience in program management. To support these ongoing considerations, the ASCA National Model developed outlined components of a school counseling program to effectively improve both school counseling and student outcomes.
Using the “History and Evolution of School Counseling” template and describe the history and evolution of school counseling programs in the U.S. and the circumstances that might have generated the need for historical and contemporary school counseling models.
Support the template with two to four scholarly resources and include a reference page.
APA style is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.
