Purpose:

The purpose of this assignment is to help you apply ethical leadership principles by visually mapping out a constructive process for resolving conflict. Using Chapter 11 as a foundation, you will create a flowchart that outlines steps a leader should take when navigating conflict while upholding values such as empathy, fairness, and accountability. This exercise will help you think critically about decision-making, communication, and ethics in leadership contexts.

Instructions:

  1. Look at the Sample FlowchartOpen the image titled “Conflict Resolution Flowchart” in the assignment folder. This shows one way to organize your ideas. You don’t need to copy the content—just the layout and idea.
  2. Start with a ConflictPick a common conflict that could happen in school, work, or a team. Example: “A teammate is not doing their share of a group project.”
  3. Show 3–4 Decision PointsWhat should the leader consider? How should they communicate? What is the ethical or fair thing to do? How can the team move forward?
  4. Create OutcomesShow different ways the conflict might be resolved. Example: “Talk it out → Compromise → Rebuild trust.”
  5. Add Labels & ArrowsUse arrows to show the path. Label each step clearly so someone can follow your thinking.
  6. Add a Short CaptionAt the bottom of your flowchart, write 2–3 sentences to explain how your flowchart shows ethical leadership.

How to Make It:

  • You can use any of these tools to build your flowchart:
    • Canva, PowerPoint, Google Slides, or even draw it by hand and upload a photo (make sure it’s clear!).

Submission Instructions:

  • Your submission must include your original Conflict Resolution Flowchart and a brief written explanation (3–5 sentences) describing how your flowchart reflects ethical leadership and responsible decision-making.
  • Your flowchart should be clearly organized and visually easy to follow. You may create it using PowerPoint, Canva, Google Slides, or any flowchart tool of your choice. You may also draw it neatly by hand and upload a clear photo or scan.
  • Use the Conflict Resolution Flowchart example provided in the module as a visual reference.
  • Submit your flowchart file (PDF, PNG, JPG, or PPT format) and your explanation in one document or as two separate uploads.
  • This assignment does not require APA formatting or external sources.
  • Complete and submit the assignment by 11:59 PM ET on Sunday.
  • Late work policies and expectations for professionalism and originality apply. Plagiarism or use of AI-generated charts without meaningful human input may result in a grade reduction.
  • You can expect feedback from the instructor within 48 to 72 hours after the Sunday deadline.
