PSY-495 Topic 2: Preparing to Write the Literature Review

Objective: When writing a literature review, it is important to remember that it goes beyond simply summarizing articles related to your topic. The goal is to offer background information and present existing research on the topic you plan to investigate. To aid in the preparation for your literature review assignment, carefully consider and respond to the prompts below. This preplanning will assist you in organizing the literature review ensuring a thorough overview of the existing research is presented.

1.
Review Peer-Reviewed Articles:

Revisit the peer-reviewed articles cited in your previous research project (PSY-452). Jot down relevant keywords and discussed topics from each article, present them with proper in-text citations to indicate which article they were drawn from. A minimum of eight peer-reviewed articles should be reviewed and cited. Include the full reference for each article below, under the References subheading. Properly format the full references following APA guidelines.

2.
Identification of Additional Topics:

Reflect on the reviewed articles and identify any additional topics related to your proposed study that readers should be aware of for a better understanding of the study being proposed. Jot down any relevant topics not previously mentioned. This step encourages you to consider broader context and related subjects that could enhance the understanding of your research.

3.
Recognition of Recurring Keywords and Topics:

Identify recurring keywords and topics that consistently emerge from the reviewed articles. Compile a list of recurring keywords and topics across the reviewed articles in number 1. These recurring themes will serve as potential subheadings in your literature review, helping you organize and structure your discussion effectively.

4.
Evaluation of Existing Articles:

Identify what topics require additional sources.
Identify specific topics that require further research. You will search for peer-reviewed articles on these topics as you expand your literature review.
