Overview: In this course, you will refine your research paper from PSY-452: Experimental Psychology to develop a comprehensive writing sample and research proposal suitable for inclusion in your professional portfolio. Whether you are pursuing further education or entering a professional environment, this assignment will assist in showcasing your research skills and academic competence.

Directions: In this assignment, you will describe the topic of the research paper submitted in PSY 452: Experimental Psychology or choose a new topic if you are currently enrolled or took Experimental Psychology at another institution. Utilize three to five peer-reviewed journal articles to support your responses. Properly format in-text citations and a full reference list using APA style.

Briefly describe your chosen research topic and provide insight into why you selected it. Explain your motivation, personal interest, and any relevant background information that informs your decision.

Explore existing research on your topic and summarize the approaches others have taken. Support your summary with evidence from two to three recent (no older than 5-10 years) peer-reviewed journal articles.

Describe why additional research needs to be conducted on this topic. Please note, you can have a personal interest in the topic you selected, but you must also have support from the research that suggests, a gap in the research, supporting the need for more research to be done related to your topic. Therefore, use two or three peer-reviewed sources to support your response.

The topic you selected needs to be turned into a problem that can be researched. Describe the real-world problem that you are proposing to solve/research.

Present your research question(s) and hypotheses or your problem statement.

Review the methods section in the paper you submitted in PSY-452. Describe the research method used conduct your study or the method you plan to. Justify the research method selected, explaining how it aligns with your research objectives and why it is suitable for addressing the identified problem.
