As noted by the Indeed Editorial Team (2025), ESFJ stands for extroverted, sensing, feeling, and judging. Those who fall under this category—sometimes referred to as the “provider,” “consul” or “caregiver”—are typically outgoing, organized, tender-hearted, and loyal. Their extroverted nature helps them gain energy from interacting with others, and they often encourage others to be their best” (Indeed Editorial Team , 2025). Based on the text readings, the MBTI has several limitations, including the fact that the four preference dimensions overlook critical aspects of personality, and personality types can change over time. The text also indicates that a change may occur in as little as five weeks after the test (Hughes, Ginnett, & Curphy, 2022). The Forer effect is of interest as it states that it happens when people are provided with descriptive statements that are personally flattering but so vague that they could apply to virtually anyone” (Hughes, Ginnett, & Curphy, 2022).
Based on the readings and test results, I disagree with the test results; however, I acknowledge that there are imperfections in the MBTI process. Several factors should be considered when analyzing test results. As a leader with over 25 years of experience, the questions are often not relevant to every situation. When I took the test, I attempted to apply the questions to various scenarios and considered broad characteristics of myself and my personality. Of course, some sections or questions made me think, and as a leader, there is always something new to learn.
