1-Hello, everyone,
professor and classmates. My name is Molly,
and I am from a very small town in Virginia. um explain whether i’ve heard of
psychopharmacology i have not i have heard of just
pharmacology which is i always just understood as the
makeup of the way drugs are made up and how they
affect your brain but psychopharmacology i haven’t
really heard of but i am interested in finding out
how that certain drugs can how they are made up to help
with things like depression and anxiety and how they
affect your thinking and memory i am very
interested to hear about that um my interest in
taking this course i am getting a graduate
certificate in addiction so this kind of was one of
the electives to be able to get that and the
reason why I chose the addiction as a concentration is because I am a
recovering addict myself and my past work experience
has been helping with those in addiction and I
just wanted to continue doing that um i thought
maybe i can be the one person that can help
someone uh decide to go into treatment and get recovery
um but i’m interested in what i want to learn
in this course and i’m excited to get to know
everyone that’s all thank you
2-Hi, everyone. My name is
Diamond. I am so happy to be here and I
look forward to working with each and every one
of you. I am from Daytona, Florida. I work full time for a pro-life
organization as a donor relations manager and
also a mom advocate. I have been doing that
for the past five years. And, um, I am also
doing my internship, um, at BASE, which is a
nonprofit organization that’s partnered with DCF.
So we help create, um, stabilization within the
homes and provide counseling, um, in-home support as
well, resources. Um, so that is what I’m doing for
my internship side. Um, and so the first time that
I heard the term of, um, psychopharmacology was actually
in one of our debriefing meetings that we have. So
it’s where we go over each and every case, um, with
our team members and the behavioral, um, the behavioral
health therapist actually brought that up and so
that was my first time actually hearing that term
um and getting to know about okay like how are the
medications affecting our clients do we need to like is a
dosage um of that because it came up in a particular
client that we were talking about and so the behavioral
um therapist was just like I wonder if this dose is
interfering um with their behavior like do we need
to go lower or is it needed to be higher and I’m like
okay like hmm so that like caught my interest and so
so the that’s funny like the next part is like talking
about the interest in taking the course so that like
really um made me interested in taking this class because
I do want to know like how these medications affect
one’s behavior how does it affect their brain um
is it doing them good or is it damaging them um because
a lot of our clients they come they come to us with
you know mental illness um some of them are on
antidepressants and I’m seeing like how my clients how
they’ll interact with me like if they look in drowsy or
um just like withdrawn and I always want to know like
okay how is this medication affecting them so that was
my interest um in taking this class because I really
want to know like how these medications um affect
them especially in children that’s something that I
want to know like are the dosage too high or is the
medicine too strong for them so that’s something that
I would like to learn for myself um and I’m also I
did take the other two like introduction to addiction
and treatment to addiction um so that of course caught my
interest as I am obtaining like the certification in
addiction. So that just brought a lot of awareness,
you know, with me and wanted to pursue this more. All
right, guys, thank you so much. And I look forward
to hearing from all of you.
