PART 1A

In the previous few modules, you learned about the different aspects of innovation such as its dimensions, the five major trajectories for managing innovation, the spaghetti model of innovation and many more. In this discussion, you may choose to discuss some of these concepts or other innovation concepts covered in this course and reflect on the following aspects of your course project:

In your initial post you should address the following questions:

· What specific factors led you to choose incremental or discontinuous innovation in Milestone One?

· Why did you choose the process you selected in Milestone Two for managing innovation?

· How will the changes you recommended in your project for the organization structure promote a climate for innovation?

In response to two peers on their selections in the course milestones and project, address the following:

· Which aspect of your peer’s approach to the milestones or project did you find most compelling, surprising, or innovative?

· One important theme of this course is the need for most companies to innovate on a regular basis or risk falling behind their competitors. The same can be said for employees.

· What skills do you think your peers should focus on to futureproof their careers, and what skills can you add to your own toolbox? Be sure to provide reasoning to support your suggestions.

· Which skills did your peers mention that you could acquire to support an innovative culture at your organization?

PART 1B

Overview

You work as a middle manager for one of the top U.S. producers of luxury and mass-market automobiles and trucks. It has been a very busy couple of months for you. You have already submitted your plan for enabling innovation in your organization, including your recommendations for the type of innovation (incremental or discontinuous), a strategic plan, and improvements in organizational structures for an internet of things (IoT) innovation project. Additionally, you are leading a cross-functional team responsible for implementing the IoT innovation project. Now, it is time for you to make your final recommendation, which is to make the organizational changes permanent. In this assignment, you will provide a plan for futureproofing (ensuring long-term sustainability) your company’s processes, structures, and culture of innovation in an executive summary, which will be used by your team to take your recommendations forward.

Directions

Draft an executive summary listing the recommendations for futureproofing your company’s processes, structures, and culture of innovation.

Specifically, you must address the following rubric criteria:

1. Discuss recommendations for
organizational changes to support
continuous innovation (you can use your suggestions from the project).

A. What steps would you take to make innovation a part of the company’s values and culture permanently?

B. What specific changes to organizational structures and processes would you recommend, and how will they support continuous innovation?

2. Share your insights on at least two
potential roadblocks to making your company more innovative.

A. Where do you anticipate encountering resistance to change in your organization?

B. How would you address and overcome this resistance?

What to Submit

Submit a 1- to 2-page Word document using 12-point Times New Roman font, double spacing, and one-inch margins. Sources should be cited according to APA style.

PART 2A

In this discussion, reflect on your post in the Module One discussion and what you thought made an organization successful. Compare that to what you have learned in this course and consider if your views might have changed.

In your initial post, address the following:

· Have your parameters for identifying a high-performing or successful organization changed over the course? Why or why not?

· As a leader, what are some performance factors and future trends you will consider for developing a high-performing team and organization?

In your response to two peers, address the following:

· Compare and contrast your views on successful organizations and how they have changed.

· Do you agree with the factors and trends your peers want to focus on for building successful teams and organizations?
