Module 2: Discussion

Welcome OGL 554: Training and Development Crew to our Module 2 Discussion!

As you dive into the content for this week and consider the discussion prompts, please reflect on your experiences with trainings, as well as the materials. Each Module’s Discussion Board will provide an opportunity to engage more deeply with something that interests you from the text and learning materials, listen, engage with the perspectives of your peers on these topics and share aspects of the project development process.  We are here to help each other learn, grow and strengthen our insights, evaluative capacities and skills. This is a cooperative process. Generative critiques between peers can prompt us to ask questions about our work and the contributions of fellow colleagues regarding how a specific training could be improved or whether another avenue of address could be engaged to make a substantive difference in the effectiveness of a training. Thank you all for your collegial engagement!

Step One: After engaging with the learning materials for this week, please respond to each of the following prompts with an Initial Post.

For this post, please share 3 compelling things you learned about about creating a needs assessment
from the learning materials and connect these insights either to your current project for this class or how these insights will impact you in your professional life as you move forward. You are welcome to also explore, what surprised you, what you wish you would have known at the outset, that you know now or what you are curious to learn more about. Requirements: at least 200 words or longer and

must
include at least one reference from Module 2, cited and referenced using APA formatting.

Step 2-Choose your Own Adventure:
After engaging the learning materials for this week, please share the
3 most critical things that stood out for you and/or questions you have. These could be your thoughts or insights on a question that you are wrestling with, or something that moved you based on the learning theories, applied scenarios, or any examples you are working through. Peruse the “Discussion Questions” and “Application Assignments” at the back of each chapter for inspiration- follow your interest! Requirements: scope determined by you and

must
include at least one reference from Module 2, cited and referenced using APA formatting. You are strongly encouraged to respond to the the questions and explorations of others.

Step Two: Respond to at least one peer(minimum) with substantive points of discussion, analysis, counter-points, evidence from the text, further examples and/or elaborations that develop on their work. There is no specific length or format for peer responses, they just need to be substantive developments of critical discussion.

In existentialism, the ethical ideal is to live “authentically”–a notoriously slippery concept—celebrating individual freedom and responsibility.  According to Sartre, we are here by blind chance, and nothing more.  There is no objective reason for our existence, and this hard truth imposes a responsibility on each of us to live
