Learning Journal Personal Assessment and Reflection

Instructions: Your first Learning Journal assignment will be significantly more comprehensive than those in the following Modules.  For that reason, this first log will also serve as your main assignment for this module and will be submitted as an assignment rather than a Learning Journal entry.

Complete the questionnaires at the end of Chapters 1, 2, 3, and 6 (pp. 18 – 20, 47 – 50, 72 – 74, 150 – 153).  The Leadership Traits Questionnaire (2.3 in Chapter 2) suggests that you distribute the questionnaire to 5 colleagues for their completion.  You may choose to follow the directions in the text for this questionnaire or simply complete it yourself without asking others.  After completing the 4 questionnaires, you will have identified your view of leadership and gained insight into your own leadership style, traits, and strengths. Use your learning log to post your reflection on what you’ve learned about leadership and about yourself from these questionnaires.  What confirmed what you already know? What did you learn about yourself? What goals are you likely to set based on what you’ve discovered?  What actions will you take to achieve your goals?  Include specific references to the data collected from your surveys to validate your personal assessment.  Your reflection should be approximately 2 – 3 pages in length and include text or authoritative references to support your thinking.
