In this week’s reading selection “Two Kinds” by Amy Tan, the relationship of first and second generation immigrants is portrayed in the story.

Read the story “TWO KINDS” by Amy Tan and answer the following questions:

  1. Identify all settings in the story (setting can be physical, geographical and historical).
  2. Describe the cultural roles of parents and children and how this role influences the action of the characters.
  3. In your opinion, what is the socioeconomic status of the characters in the story? Include passages from the story to support your opinion.
  4. Identify the theme(s) and how it influences the characters.
  5. Choose two (2) quotes from the story, explain the significance of these quotes.
