Assignment #4: Developing an Annotated Bibliography/Research Paper

Assignments 4

In ORG 499A, you identified a topic, problem, concern, or “something” at your work or community that needed a solution, improvement, clarification, remediation, or more research. You also stated the reason why you chose to undertake this research problem, suggested what might have led to the problem, and briefly explained why the perceived problem needed an answer or resolution.

In Assignment #3 (ORG 499B), you used the Template for Researching an Annotated Bibliography and the St. Thomas University E-library to create a list of the 8 research studies on your research topic.

Now, in Assignment #4, you will select 5 of the most relevant research sources cited in Assignment #3 to write 5 complete Annotated Bibliographical statements on your research problem.  An Annotated Bibliography represents the foundation of any research paper and can be used in any course that includes writing a research paper.  In Assignment #4, it is not possible to include all the items in each research study cited in the Template in Assignment #3.  Only include those that are most important and relevant to your argument.

For purposes of this Assignment #4, the Annotated Bibliography should be written as follows:

  1. Include 5 citations—each citation should be written in appropriate APA Manual Style with complete sentences.
  2. Each citation should contain two paragraphs, no more than 300 words, and contain any information you choose to include from your Template in Assignment #2, to support your argument.
  3. Paragraph One should contain about 6 to 8 complete sentences.
  4. Paragraph Two should also contain 2 to 3 sentences that describe how the citation supports your research topic and strengthens your argument.  This support may be in the form of research data, research results, or specific claims that relate to your topic.
  5. The Bibliography should be organized in order of importance for your action research topic.

Your Bibliography citation should reflect some of the following topics below, not all!  Include only those that are most relevant and best strengthen your argument:

  1. Description of the research cited.
  2. Statement of the main argument (i.e., explain what the research is about).
  3. Summary of the main points presented in each study (may include at least one key quotation that highlights the summary).
  4. Summary of the results of each study.
  5. Statement of the Problem and the Purpose of the Research.
  6. Name of the author and or publisher.
  7. Evaluation of the usefulness of the study for your research problem.
  8. Note the highlight or “take-away’ of this research.

This assignment will be assessed through Turnitin.
