Questions:
1. National Unity has always been an issue in Canada, even before the U.S. threat, now it’s ramping up. Explain why Canada now more than ever needs a strong federalist sentiment in our provinces and territories.
2. How effective is our parliamentary political system when it comes to the provinces and territories? This question can be answered either using a federal perspective or a provincial perspective since our provinces and territories are themselves parliamentary political systems. How have provincial and/or territorial economic and political needs changed the political cultures of some provinces and/or territories? What can we learn from these adaptations?
3. Politics is about power, and democracy is about sharing that power. Does Canada have a democratic deficit? Which provinces are more democratic than others? Which political parties fare the best in certain regions of the country, and why is that so?
