This week, you should submit a word document that identifies your selection for the semester-long biographical project. After that identification, the assignment should also justify your choice answering the following questions: 1) Why did you select this figure? 2) Why are they significant/where do they fit in Texas history?

Some things to keep in mind:

-Choose someone you are interested in–this project lasts a whole semester. If you choose someone you find boring, it will be tough to complete the project.

-Search something you are interested in + Texas history to find some individuals you could choose. For example, “Football players + Texas History”

– You can choose an ancestor/grandparent, but make sure you answer how your personal history connects to the context of Texas History

– Remember, a component of this project is creativity. There are so many biographies over figures like Sam Houston and Stephen F. Austin–Think outside of the box! It will make the project more fulfilling and exciting to complete.

This part of the portfolio is worth 25 points with the following rubric:

ID of figure (5 points)

Justification (10 points)

Creativity of historical figure choice (5 points)

Grammar/Writing Style (5 points)
