Part 1: In your Learning Resources, you were given two examples of how we use classical psychological theory and ancient philosophical thought in the practice of psychology today. But these certainly aren’t the only two examples! Do some digging out there on the web – be it a TED talk, scholarly article, podcast, YouTube video, anything goes really, that depicts an example of how historical psychological ideas, theories, or concepts (any that you have learned during your time as a psychology student at UMGC) are alive and well today. Share one of those examples with us here. Please provide a link to it so we can see it, too! Summarize your thinking behind this selection and discuss your reaction.

Part 2: In your reading, you were also directed to examples of psychology state board websites (KY, MD, NM) that list recent disciplinary actions taken against practicing psychologists. Click around and read a few of the cases presented and share your reactions with us. Pull out one that surprises you the most and provide us an overview of it (and link to it, so we can read more!). What about this case surprises you? What doesn’t surprise you? Do you agree with the actions the state board took?

Part 3: You also read about emerging frontiers shared in our Learning Resources. Either dive deep into one of those (AI, gender diversity, racial disparity, the replication crises) or investigate a topic that has been on your mind for a while (maybe it’s something other than what is provided in the readings). Summarize the issue for us and answer this: What advice do you have for future psychology researchers who are tasked with investigating this topic?
