FINAL CASE EXAM:                     Telephony Translations, Inc. (A)

REQUIRED: This final case exam is based on the case in Chapter 16 of the textbook. It requires each student to submit ONE (double-spaced) written report. The file should be submitted electronically on UM Learn. No late submission will be accepted.

FORMAT: There is no required format. Present your analysis in the format you think will best communicate them.

However, the written report should start with a two-page (double-spaced) executive summary in which summarizes your key answers to the questions below, as well as their justifications. In the rest of the written report, you should also have sections explaining the detailed answers to each question below.

  1. Evaluate Dave Santolli’s entrepreneurial thinking and leadership at Faxtech and at TTI (20%)
  1. What are the lessons and insights from the case? (20%)
  1. Evaluate the progress and situation facing TTI in 2006.  What should the company do?  What should the investors/directors do? (20%)
  1. How does the pursuit of new venture opportunities support and interfere with an entrepreneur’s life? (10%)
  1. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of an early and a late harvest of a business.  Why does an emerging technology business complicate the process? (15%)
  1. Assess the intervention and turnaround by Bob Cooper of Signit Ventures that lead Dave from Faxtech to ITT.  How important was Steve Oldham, the turnaround specialist assisting with Faxtech in the process? (15%)
