You have been thinking about your topic for the past several Units. We will now explore some of the
essential, initial elements of a good research paper.

• The first section of your paper you will work on will be your Introduction. This describes the
paper to your reader.

o What is important to include? Any helpful tips from the resources shared this week?
Remember, the thesis statement you previously worked on will be included at the end of
your Introduction.

• Next, you will summarize the articles you included in your Annotated Bibliography into a
Literature Review. This will make up the bulk of your paper.

o Have you written a literature review in the past, and if so, what was your experience in doing
so? If not, what questions do you have? What important tips did you see in this week’s
resources?

• Finally, every research article has a large conclusion section. Sometimes it is called
Results, but it always offers findings and future directions.

o What elements will you be sure to include in your own paper? What questions do you have
about writing a strong conclusion?
