Watch the video narratives recommended under the Art 21: Sexuality and Contemporary Art. Pick one artist whose work you would like to explore further and write a short analysis on this artist and the content of their artwork. Use the the provided essay prompt to guide your response.  Answer the following question in an essay format: 

Essay Prompt

How does the artist you choose address themes of sexuality in their work and what is their message? Back up your response with an analysis of one of their artworks using critically conscious observation and interpretation methods (as we did last week.)

Essay criteria

  • You may use any resources you choose but your writing MUST be your own. Please include at least 2 sources for where you retrieved your image/s and information for your artist. Your sources can be from the internet but not directly from Wikipedia (although you may start with Wikipedia and use the direct sources cited at the bottom of the Wikipedia page.)
  • Use guidelines found under the MLA Handbook to source your essay.
  • Be sure to include the full name of the artist, the name of the artwork/s you choose (or untitled), and the date and medium.
  • Be sure to embed the an image of the artwork you are referencing with your submission and a link to where you retrieved the image. If you are unable to embed the image you may provide the link as an alternative
