Series 4 – Turn Around Tactics

Occasionally, a campus may have very poor student performance that requires intensive focus to make great strides in student achievement.  District leaders across the state are implementing these types of strategies to make up for academic loss due to pandemic issues, online learning and weather elements.  Turnaround schools are school systems that have made significant, rapid gains in student achievement by implementing these four key research based practices, which are also supported by John Hattie’s research:

· Created vibrant communities of practice through leadership, shared responsibility and professional collaboration

· Implemented intentional practices for improving instruction

· Used data to meet student needs by offering specific instruction and supports to all students

· Established a respectful, safe environment and provided a collegial climate for teachers and students

As a new teacher, you can expect to see some of these practices in place as our state leaders work to make up for learning loss.
