 States and local communities employ special needs registries that identify individuals who may need special assistance during an emergency. Research a registry in the United States, the application process for the registry, and how the information is compiled, stored, and used. 

Instructions: 

• Identify the strengths and limitations of the registry. 

   o Does the jurisdiction have a registry in place that is easy to access and register?

    o Is the registry clear on how this information will be used? Does the registry actually capture the said population? Please explain.

 • Conclude with suggestions for improving the functionality of the registry. 

• Putting yourself in the position of an individual with a special need, does the registry include information you would need for sheltering? If yes, briefly describe the information it provides. If no, recommend a resource that can be provided here and briefly explain its validity.
