i remember when I was in 7th grade and my best friend was 8th grade, so the following year she was going to high school while I stayed in middle school. She ended up making new friends in high school and would talk about them all the time and even started hanging out with them after school. I can so clearly remember being so jealous about the bond she was creating with this friends, I was clearly heart broken but I eventually met all her new friends and our relationship became even closer. So for the most part the friendship can be your first intimate relationship outside of your family.
