Friendships are a considerably important factor of intimacy for both children and teens. However, intimacy can be complicated when the time comes to part ways, such as moving away or changing schools. The latter often occurs during transitions to both middle school and high school. Considering I went to a K-12 private school, I personally never experienced this since I had the same classmates from elementary school to high school graduation. Graduating was hard on me emotionally because we had to part ways after so many years of seeing each other every day, but it was bound to happen at some point because that was just life.
