RADT 1300 – INTRODUCTION TO MEDICAL IMAGING

FINAL PROJECT – TECHNOLOGIST INTERVIEW

Students will continue to learn about the different professions and certifications available by

interviewing a certified imaging technologist who is currently employed in an imaging

profession. The technologist has to be certified by the ARRT, ARDMS, NMTCB, or ARMRIT.

Format (20 points)

1. Electronic document (Word or PDF file) submitted by the due date with the correct file name

2. Arial or Times New Roman font with a font size of 12.

3. Interview questions numbered, bolded and on a separate line from the response.

4. Responses must be italicized, single spaced and placed under the correct interview question.

5. Questions and responses must be in complete sentences using proper grammar, punctuation
and sentence structure.

Content (150 points)

1. Fifteen approved interview questions includes with a minimum of 8 question from section A.

2. Responses must fully answer the question and address all parts of the question.

3. Responses must be relevant to the question asked and include appropriate details.

4. Responses must have the required number of sentences

Title page (5 points)

1. Student name and date of interview

2. Course name and course number and section

1st page (15 points)

1. Technologist’s full name with certification correctly listed and technologist’s email address

2. Year the current imaging certification was earned

3. Name of educational program or college, year graduated and degree/certificate earned

4. Total length of time spent working in the imaging profession

5. Current place of employment

6. Picture that represents the technologist (Do not use a picture of the technologist)

Follow-up (10 points)

Express your appreciation to the technologist with a follow-up email. Provide evidence of follow-up:

o Forward or carbon copy your instructor on the original email ([email protected])

o Provide a picture of the original email as the last page of the report

Interview Questions

15 interview questions are required. The interview must consist of a minimum of eight (8) questions
from section A. The remaining questions can come from either section A or section B.

Section A: Responses for questions 1 – 12 must consist of three or more sentences.

1. Besides your main imaging certification, do you have any other imaging certifications? If so, which

ones and how long have you been certified in those area?

2. Could you describe one of your typical workdays for me?

3. Which seasons or times of the year are toughest in your job and why?

4. What about your job do you find most enjoyable?

5. What parts of your job do you find most challenging? Are there any negatives to your job?

6. What skills are required in your position on a day-to-day basis?

7. What changes have you seen in the profession?

8. What is the advancement potential in the field? What is a typical path?

9. If you could start all over again, would you change your career path in any way? Why?

10. What preparation would you recommend for someone who wants to advance in this field?

11. What qualifications and skills would you say are needed to work in this field?

12. Considering people, you’ve worked with, what personal attributes are essential for success?

Section B

1. How did you get your job?

2. How many hours do you work in a typical week?

3. Are too many or too few people entering this profession?

4. Is this field growing enough so that there’s room for someone like me?

5. What developments on the horizon could affect future employment opportunities?

6. What changes do you think will happen in your certification in the next five years?

7. Why do people leave this field or this particular facility (hospital or clinic)?

8. What would be a reasonable salary range to expect if I entered this field?
