theoretical framework. Write a 3 page paper that addresses the

following:

● How and why the problem statement and conceptual or
theoretical framework are important in applied research
(use Module 3 course readings and homepage to guide
your discussion).

● Next select ONE article from the list below.

○ Locate and summarize the problem
statement.

○ Locate and summarize the conceptual or
theoretical framework.

■ If a conceptual or
theoretical framework is not
presented, discuss why you
feel the author did not
include one.

● Evaluate the problem statement and purpose statement
using the following questions as a guide:

○ Is the purpose statement clear and
concise? Is it directly linked to the problem
statement?

○ Does the purpose statement include
relationships among variables (quantitative)
or a central phenomenon (qualitative)?

○ Does the purpose statement identify the
participants and site?

○ Does the purpose statement mention a
theory?

● Evaluate the conceptual or theoretical framework using the
following questions as a guide:

○ Does the literature review establish the
basis for the conceptual or theoretical
framework?

○ Is the conceptual or theoretical framework
easy to follow and logical?

○ Does the conceptual or theoretical
framework contribute to the study in a
meaningful way?

● Provide a brief conclusion that discusses your
understanding of the problem statement and
conceptual/theoretical framework in relation to a proposed
doctoral study topic under consideration.
